"My Tokays changed how I was able to perform on the field and I won’t wear anything else from now on."

Katie was introduced to the sport of ultimate frisbee in 2007 and played in her local city league, Stevens Point Ultimate Frisbee Association (SPUFA). Following a brief stint living in Chicago, she and her husband moved back to central Wisconsin in 2013 and immediately picked back up with SPUFA. After having their daughter in 2017 and hip labral repair surgery in 2018, Katie hit the ground running, training hard to get back into top athletic shape and setting her sights on higher levels of ultimate. Becoming a mom showed her how important it was to find an outlet for her own passions and hobbies and ultimate frisbee fueled her competitive spirit. In 2021 she joined Point of No Return, a club level mixed team based in Stevens Point, WI, and in 2022 took over as one of the team’s captains. Using her success from captaining her club team, Katie co-captained her first team for SPUFA in 2022 and won the Fall Mixed League Championship, becoming the first female captain to achieve this title. Katie currently participates in 3 different levels of ultimate: SPUFA city league, Club Mixed and Masters Mixed. Her Masters Mixed team, TMI, qualified for the 2024 USAU Masters Nationals which was an incredible experience and one she hopes to repeat. Katie also picks up with a Grandmasters Women's team, Stretch Marks, which helps fulfill her dream of playing on an all women's team. When Katie is off the field, she is a member of the SPUFA board, holding the title of the Player Rep and helps lead Ladies Nights to introduce the sport to more women. She fell in love with the spirit of the sport as well as the incredible community and wants to share that uniqueness with others.

“I played my first season of Ultimate in softball cleats, as that was all I owned, and quickly realized how important my footwear was. After switching to soccer cleats, I saw improvements but was still frustrated with how quickly I had to replace them, how much they hurt my feet, and that they would slip and slide during harder cutting. Last year a teammate of mine suggested we try Tokays and I realized ‘not all cleats are created equal,’ these were far superior to any I had ever owned. After 10 minutes of practice, fresh out of the box, I was able to cut, pivot, and move quickly and sharply, just as a cutter wants, and they felt like air on my feet. I also found that I no longer hesitated to cut on my left hip, worrying my cleats would slip and I would reinjure myself. My Tokays changed how I was able to perform on the field and I won’t wear anything else from now on.”
